There are new laws and regulations coming in California in 2020. For those operating in the state, there a lot of impacts these laws will have on pho restaurants and all restaurants in general. Some major areas include minimum wages (both state and local levels), food packaging and recycling/single use utensils and containers, and several others.

Here's a quick blurb from the CRA the restaurant group, not the gun group.

Make sure you know and understand what will impact your business and plan accordingly.

Recently I have to ask for drinking straw and plastic utensils for my takeout. Pretty annoying actually.

Yeah that's certainly true if you're a full service restaurant but if you're a fast food I think you're pretty much set up for this, as you're more likely to have the customers serving themselves to plastic utensils, drinking straws, etc. I know at the MD drivethrough windows they don't ask if you want a straw with your Coke because of course you do.

Yeah many people think the biggest impact will be minimum wages, but I think the recycling and packaging regulations will become just as important if not more.

So far all of my takeout orders (I'm in Southern CA) seems the same with neither price change not additional questions about utensils, although I think we're still ina transition time period before things actually take effect officially.

I'm not a fan of those paper straws. They disintegrate too fast. Guess you have to drink fast these days.
